The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate, one of the largest landowners in Israel, sold some 172 acres, including a large chunk designated as a historic national park.
The declaration turning 580 acres around Jericho and near the Dead Sea into state land raises serious questions about Israel’s long-term intentions, a department spokesman said.
