Old/New Shabbaton

The first ever, Old/New Shabbaton, hosted by high profile NYC real estate developer Michael Bolla, in cooperation with the Lower East Side Jewish Conservancy and the Jewish International Council, NY will take place on June 8 – 9 at various venues on the Lower East Side.

The Shabbaton offers those unfamiliar with the contemporary Jewish community on the Lower East Side with an opportunity to have a rich cultural immersion over the course of the Jewish Sabbath. The event is the brainchild of Michael Bolla, who is the sales director and creative consultant for the Madison Jackson, located at the intersection of Madison and Jackson Streets, which has been converted from a classic schoolhouse to affordably luxurious residential units. The Madison Jackson will open to the public in the coming weeks.

Billed as a Jewish adventure on the historic Lower East Side, the Shabbaton offers participants the opportunity to pray in the neighborhood’s oldest and most beautiful synagogues; take classes with amazing rabbis, educators and historians; experience incredible guided tours hosted by the LES Conservancy; meet members of the warm and wonderful community; take a Shabbos walk through the neighborhood and along the newly designed riverfront park; enjoy gourmet Glatt Kosher Shabbos meals…led by spirited program directors; and take advantage of home hospitality.

Participants can come for the entire weekend or just for meals and learn why the Lower East Side is the place where New York's Jewish past meets the Jewish future. For further information or to register please visit http://yourlowereastside.com or contact sarina@michaelbolla.com.

HALLSTEAD PROPERTY

Alan Levy uses his many years of real estate experience to understand the needs of his clients, and then works to satisfy them fully, while providing expert guidance and support. As one thoroughly satisfied client explained, "Alan helped us purchase and then lease our Manhattan condo. We engaged him because we were impressed with his experience, his integrity, and our ease in relating to him. All of these qualities remained constant throughout the purchase and the rental process."

Born in Brooklyn, Alan has lived for the past 20 years in Manhattan, moving from the Upper East Side to Gramercy and then to his current home in Chelsea, giving him first hand knowledge of the city's diverse neighborhoods. His clients also benefit from his inside experience as a coop owner and landlord, as well as years spent as a coop board member. One seller enthused, "I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to work with Alan on the sale of my apartment. The sale was complicated, in part due to my strict co-op board. Alan was extremely tactful in dealing with the board. He was able to secure valuable information from the board members, which insured that my prospective buyer would successfully meet their tough standards."

Alan understands that for most buyers, an apartment is more than a monetary investment; that above all, it is an investment in that most intimate of spaces: a home."

The Synagogue for the Arts

is a traditional synagogue with a creative approach to the challenges of Jewish life in the modern era. We are a welcoming Jewish community in downtown Manhattan, open to people of all levels of Jewish learning and experience and providing opportunities for all to deepen their knowledge and practice of Judaism. We have a full time Rabbi, and a sanctuary and a reception space to accommodate all life cycle events.

Our community is enriched by the many cultures of an extremely diverse congregation. Groups of French,Spanish, Russian, and German speakers are present every Shabbat along with members of the Sephardic community. We place a special emphasis on community as a form of spiritual expression in a halachic setting. We have a broad range of activities for adults and children of all ages. Adults refresh their Jewish backgrounds or learn for the first time at our Tuesday evening seminars and ongoing classes. The young people learn in Hebrew School from the K class to one which prepares them for Bnei Mitzvah and beyond with our imaginative and engaging teen programs. We see our extraordinary building, our role in New York's art community, our gallery, and our performance space as ways in which to enhance our spiritual setting. All of these aspects combine to make Synagogue for the Arts the pre-eminent cultural and spiritual center for Downtown Manhattan's Jewish families.

To fully appreciate the Synagogue for the Arts you must experience it. We invite you to visit, to participate and discover! http://www.synagogueforthearts.org.
