Getting Ready For The Four Cups

Passover — or at least a flavor of it — came early for a few thousand people this week.

More than 2,000 people, including leaders of the kosher food industry and general kosher gourmands, attended the seventh annual Kosher Food and Wine Experience at Manhattan’s Chelsea Piers.

The event, which takes place every year in the weeks before Pesach, a high point for sale of kosher wines, was sponsored by Royal Wine Corp.

“We are thrilled to continue hosting what has become a highly anticipated annual foodie event,” said Mordy Herzog, the firm’s vice president and partner.

Attendees at KFWE2013, which bills itself as “the most comprehensive tasting of kosher wine in the nation,” sampled more than 200 wines from 40 producers, and kosher dishes prepared by 20 local kosher restaurants and caterers.

“Our goal is not to have a bigger show,” Herzog said. “Our goal is to get more people who are interested in learning about wines, about great quality foods, to get them in the doors, have them try the wines, enjoy the wines, enjoy the experience, and get them more passionately involved in the world of wines.”
