The Conservative Synagogue of the Hamptons has a new home — the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse at 977 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike.
The synagogue had been housed at the Old Whaler’s Church in Sag Harbor for the past 15 years. The congregation’s new home is a comfortable, air-conditioned space in a convenient location for its rabbi and congregation, according to a release.
“We make this move with great joy and great sadness,” said CSH Rabbi Jan Uhrbach in a statement. “We feel terribly sad to leave such a sacred space and such a wonderful community, and we are eternally grateful to Pastor Mark Phillips and the congregation for their great generosity. At the same time, we’ve been welcomed with open arms and open hearts by the Unitarian Universalists into their beautiful home, and it has been a joy and a blessing to meet a whole new group of gracious, sensitive, and kind people.”
Kabbalat Shabbat services will continue to take place Friday nights at 6:30 p.m., and Shabbat morning services will take place Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. Upcoming special events include a poetry reading and afternoon tea and a Shabbaton in July.
High Holy Day services beginning Sept. 4 will be held back in the Old Whaler’s Church.
