NEW YORK – January 31, 2014 – In a unanimous decision, the Board of Directors voted to appoint David Maimon as the new President and CEO of EL AL Israel Airlines. Maimon will replace Elyezer Shkedy who requested to resign after four years as President and CEO of the airline. The Board decided to appoint a new President from within the ranks of the Company.
David has held several positions within EL AL over the past nine years and presently serves as Vice President of Commercial & Industry Affairs. In this position, he administers and manages the Company’s commercial and marketing policies, and has multifaceted expertise concerning the international airline industry as well as EL AL Israel Airlines.
David Maimon and Elyezer Shkedy will work together for a period to ensure a smooth and orderly transition. David is expected to take over his new position on March 20, 2014.
The Company’s Board of Directors expressed gratitude to Elyezer Shkedy for his work in advancing EL AL over the past four years. The Board made special mention of his unique personality, leadership skills and that his contribution to EL AL is deeply appreciated.
