Lerner and Moguilevsky. Cesar Lerner and Marcelo Moguilevsky are the supremely gifted Argentine duo whose exploration of the interweaving threads of klezmer and tango has produced some of the most enchanting recordings to cross this desk. Muzsikas is the brilliant Hungarian folk band whose recording of the Jewish music of Maramaros is one of the great world music albums of the past 30 years. It plays everything from Bartok to jazz, and its U.S. appearances are sadly infrequent. It will be on a bill with Klezmatics’ trumpeter Frank London and the Glass House Orchestra, his impressive collaboration with numerous Hungarian and American musicians memorializing Jewish music of the pre-war era. Wednesday, June 17, at the Skirball Centre, 8 p.m.
Three of Europe’s great purveyors of Yiddish song will be in town for Kulturfest. The Netherlands is represented by Lucette van den Berg, a protégé of Beyle Schaechter-Gottesman and a wonderful song interpreter (Joe’s Pub, Tuesday, June 16, 7 p.m.), and Shura Lipovsky, performing her one-woman show, “The Magid of Amsterdam” (JCC in Manhattan, June 17, 7:30 p.m.). Germany’s Karsten Troyke will be performing his unique brand of Yiddish song Wednesday, June 17, at Joe’s Pub.
