Lisa Schlaff’s Opinion column regarding the recent RCA proclamation banning rabbinic titles for women struck a chord. (“Women Studying Torah: Facts On The Ground,” Dec. 4).
In a measured and calm voice, she was able to articulately express what I (and many other women deeply committed to Orthodox Judaism) have been feeling. The “facts on the ground” remind me of the progress we have made over the past decade with respect to Torah learning, and cautiously optimistic at the Modern Orthodox world my daughter (now 6) will inherit.
We’ve got miles to go, but we have traveled far already.
