Intrigued By Jerry Lewis

Steve Lipman’s informative article, “Jerry Lewis’ Unseen Holocaust Comedy Brought To Light” (Jan. 15), made
me aware that the comedian undertook, but never completed, a film titled “The Day The Clown Cried.”

I found it fascinating that Lewis chose comedy
as a way to explore such a dark and tragic subject.
As a journalist and a medical clown in southern New Jersey, I was intrigued
by the scope of Lewis’ project, and by Lipman’s fascinating story.

I hope there are other interested readers who would appreciate The Jewish
Week sharing a follow-up story as to the motivation for Lewis’ unusual
project as well as why he halted its production.
