You seem to have no idea how offensive your Luxury Living (Summer 2016) supplement’s Israel-related articles were to young Israelis priced out of the market due to the growth of the luxury market. Because of complexes such as the Park Eight (a mere five-minute walk from my apartment), few Jerusalemites can ever hope to live in the same city as their parents.
As it is, Jerusalem is losing hundreds of younger residents every year. But that’s OK, your supplement implies. What could be better for Israel than apartments selling for over a million dollars that will be lived in only three weeks a year? And, even better, this plague is now spreading to Modi’in, one of the cities where the priced-out young ex-Jerusalemites could buy an apartment for a reasonable amount. So please, rich American Jews, when you come for your three weeks a year, help support the country’s hotel industry. If that’s too expensive, try Airbnb.
