I am disappointed that in a lengthy article you could not find someone to make the point that Israel has made three offers to end the occupation without even a counteroffer from the Palestinians (“NYU Prof Spurs Fresh Debate Over ‘Distancing,’” Aug. 12).
Israel tried withdrawing unilaterally from Gaza with disastrous results. It cannot do the same when its major cities and airport are just a few miles from a prospective border. When the Palestinians have the will and the ability to negotiate a peace agreement, the occupation will end.
