A match made in heaven? No, TV.
Israeli television, which had a rating success recently in airing its own version of "The Apprentice" called "The Ambassador," now is coming up with its own version of "The Bachelor."
The show‘s producers want to introduce an eligible bachelor to 15 Israeli Jewish women interested in marrying a nice Jewish guy. And to find just the right bachelor, the producers have launched a worldwide search. "Since the beginning of the month, I have received applications from France, London, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa," said Gadi Veinrib, the show‘s producer.
Applications, which must be e-mailed by June 9 to kuperman@hot3.co.il, should include a picture, resume and details about oneself. Applicants must be 25 to 36 years old. "I want to know who they are, what they like to do, the kind of woman they hope to find and what they are doing," he said. "They can write as much as they like. I‘m looking for intelligent, good looking, easy going single Jewish males who are financially secure."
"This is not ‘Joe Millionaire,’" Veinrib stressed, saying the bachelors do not have to be millionaires. "We want a guy who is romantic and believes in a good ending and love," he said.
Veinrib said he would comb through the applications and hold auditions in New York and other cities around the world to find the perfect bachelor for the show. The 15 young women the bachelor will chose from are being selected from "hundreds" of applications that are pouring in from all over Israel. The women are 22 to 35 years old. "A lot of the applications have not come from the guys and girls but from the their mothers and cousins and friends," he said.
The show also has scouts in malls, clubs, universities and on beaches searching for eligible women and inviting them to audition.The as-yet-untitled program, which is created by Elad Kuperman and Hagai Lapid and produced by Kuperman Productions, will be recorded and broadcast this summer. The bachelor will be asked to go on expenses-paid dates with each of the young women, accompanied by a camera crew. "In each episode of the program, he will eliminate a girl until he finds his soulmate at the end," Veinrib said.
