JERUSALEM (JTA) — Israeli Foreign Ministry employees have stopped making arrangements for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington next month.
The action is part of a partial strike to achieve better wages for Israeli diplomats, Haaretz reported Monday.
The work slowdown began six months ago when a labor dispute was announced and Foreign Ministry officials cut working ties with the Prime Minister’s Office and Defense Ministry. It was halted during negotiations over a wage agreement, but has picked up again since the negotiations have not been successfully concluded.
The sanctions will not affect Israel’s public relations activities relating to the Gaza flotilla raid, the employees said in a statement according to Haaretz.
Netanyahu is meeting with President Obama on July 6.
