(JTA) — New York University’s Office of Public Affairs apologized to students and staff for sending a mass e-mail on Yom Kippur.
In an e-mail sent to the university community, the office apologized for sending out the university president’s academic year report on Friday evening, Sept. 17, the NYU Washington Square News reported Monday.
The report was supposed to be sent during the day on Friday, but as delayed due to technical problems, the letter said.
The apology sent Sunday was meant to preempt complaints about the e-mail’s poor timing, Vice President for Public Affairs John Beckman told the NYU student daily newspaper.
Some Jewish students at NYU reportedly were upset that the second day of classes at NYU fell on the first day of Rosh Hashanah.
