Russian Support

Thank you to Gary Rosenblatt for his column, “Raining On The Parade” (June 8) about the Celebrate Israel parade.

I agree that day school students constitute the majority of the parade participants, and there is a need for a serious communal conversation about the parade. At the same time, allow me to mention that the New York Russian Jewish community came out in record numbers this year to show its support for Israel. COJECO was joined by our member organizations and community partners from RJeneration, Ezra USA, Gorsky-Kavkazi Jewish Community, Bukharian Jewish Congress of USA and Canada, Russian American Jewish Experience (RAJE), Association of Veterans and Invalids of WW II, The American Association of Jews from the Former Soviet Union, American Forum of Russian-speaking Jewry-RAJI (Russian American Jews for Israel), the Jewish Community of Starrett City, Congregation Tyferet Israel of Queens, Kings Bay Y, Shorefront Y, JCH of Bensonhurst, JCCA- Bukharian Teen Lounge and others.

Maybe the mainstream Jewish community has something to learn from the Russian-speaking Jews when it comes to Israel support.

Executive Director, COJECO
