Too Tough On Bibi

With Israel under existential threats from Iran, verbal assaults from the Arab countries, Turkey, Palestinian leaders, the European Union, United Nations, NGOs, left-wing churches, the BDS campaign, the secular media and left-wing Jews, why on earth is The Jewish Week adding to the chorus?

I counted 27 insults and attacks on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s character, motives and policies in Gary Rosenblatt’s column, “What Does Bibi Want?” (July 13), mixed with some begrudging praise, well over the top for legitimate and proportionate criticisms. (Given Israel’s commendable behavior in spite of being the world’s scapegoat and her outstanding performance in so many areas from economic to humanitarian, my opinion is that Netanyahu has actually been the best-performing world leader of the 21st century.)

What’s the point of a multimillion-dollar campaign by the Jewish Federations of North America to counter the demonization of Israel and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs’ well-publicized Civility Campaign, if our esteemed community newspaper is undermining them by attacking Israel’s leader?
