The Jewish Education Project, (the new name of the combined SAJES and Board of Jewish Education of Greater New York), maintains a strong commitment to Suffolk County and the rest of Long Island.
Our Commack office is operating fully, with certain staff members devoted specifically to the Long Island region. Many schools and synagogues in Suffolk County (as well as Nassau) participate in our various initiatives and receive our support and counsel. Our Long Island Regional Task Force, chaired by Craig Padover, is designed to help us better understand and respond to the local needs of the larger Long Island community.
As a merged agency and with deepened support from UJA-Federation of New York, The Jewish Education Project has increased the programs and resources we offer to the community across Greater New York: Long Island, Westchester and the five boroughs. We continue to work closely with teachers, administrators and lay leaders in synagogues, early childhood centers, day schools and teen programs to bring much-needed innovation into Jewish education and to respond to each demographics’ unique challenges.
We do believe that each sub-community within our larger New York region, including Suffolk and Nassau Counties, as well as those served by our Westchester office, has its own culture and we will continue to do what is necessary to expand the reach and increase the impact of Jewish education for our continuously evolving community.
