I enjoyed reading Steven Bayme’s review of “Like Dreamers” (“Still One Nation?” The Arts, Sept. 27), but his allusion to the “Medieval British philosopher, Roger Bacon” needs correction. Francis Bacon (1561-1626) was an Elizabethan philosopher who noted in his essay, “Of Studies,” that “some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested.”
That Halevi’s book merits repeated digestion is a fitting conclusion.
