Anti-Semitism on American campuses is not news. But actually catching an indisputable moment that verifies it is news. That moment happened in February at UCLA when a student interviewing for a position on the Student Council’s Judicial Board was asked effectively if being Jewish would make her biased in favor of other Jews.
As we watch this overt — as well as covert — anti-Semitism grow, perhaps it is time to create an index of American colleges and universities to chart their acceptance of Jews on campus. That way, when parents and students start exploring schools they will have some clear picture of social factors that will affect their children as well as the academic caliber of the campus.
