On Germany, Unforgiving

I have been repulsed and offended by the European Maccabi games being in Berlin (“At Berlin Maccabi Games, Past Is Ever-Present,” Aug. 7). I
find it disgusting and appalling that Jews would bring their tourist money to
Germany.

I do not need 2,000 Jewish athletes in Berlin or Jewish stars on flags in the
streets of Berlin to tell Hitler that we won. I have Israel, a Jewish
country. I have Chabad
and other synagogues in hundreds of cities around the world
lighting Shabbat and Chanukah candles and telling Hitler, every day, we won. Every Shabbat I have a shul overflowing with Jews and new members
joining every month all telling Hitler we won. Every school day my
children go to a Jewish day school that is full, telling Hitler we won.

But now, with the Maccabi Games in Hitler’s front yard, we have given our
money to Hitler’s heirs. Shame
on us.
