Re: “Strategy Emerging On Adelson BDS Effort” (Editor’s column, Dec. 11): The Maccabee Task Force is a good idea. However, a better use of these funds would be to gather a team of lawyers and other legal experts and start researching a legal avenue to fight organizational BDS.
There are laws on the books against institutional discrimination as well as libel laws. I personally would like to see a lawsuit brought upon a major organization that promotes BDS that receives public funds, either in the form of tax dollars or tax exemption, and have them lose that benefit. One major loss in a court of law would send a message to academics and anyone else who is considering such a move.
