This letter is in response to the front-page headline, “Lower East, 5 Towns Now Weighing Fortunes” (Dec. 11). The subhead states: “With Silver convicted and Skelos’ trial ending, the two iconic Jewish areas could take a funding hit.”
How sad that the Lower East Side and the Five Towns are concerned about future funding because of their reliance on funding provided by two criminals. When it comes to funding Jewish causes, are you or they implying that the ends justify the means?
But how much more shameful that The Jewish Week chose to publish this disgraceful headline on the front page, to the public embarrassment of those communities.
