A June 23 Letter from Talia Benamy of J Street claims that the BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement, which J Street opposes, does not recognize the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state. I would dispute that point.
The BDS movement takes no position at all on whether Israel should exist as a Jewish state. The issue of the two-state versus the one-state solution is continually debated in the movement. What we all agree on is that we vehemently oppose the subjugation of the Palestinian people and feel there are no nonviolent tools left to us other than BDS.
