I was saddened to read of Hilary Danailova’s “disappointment” in Pasadena’s Old Town (“Garden of Artistic Delight,” Travel, Nov. 4).
Here are three sights that I strongly encourage visitors to see: the grand Castle Green, a Moorish building that was originally built in 1893 as a hotel; City Hall, an architectural treasure built in 1927 and used as a villa in Charlie Chaplin’s film, “The Great Dictator”; and, just in front of City Hall, the moving Pasadena Robinson Memorial. It has large bronze sculptures of the faces of Jackie Robinson and his older brother, Mack Robinson. Mack competed for the U.S. in the infamous 1936 Olympics in Berlin and finished second to Jesse Owens in the 200-meter race.
