We Jews place a strong emphasis on remembering the Holocaust for three reasons: memorializing the six million, honoring the survivors and keeping vigilant that history does not repeat itself. It is therefore distressing that many Jews, particularly in Orthodox enclaves, voted for Donald Trump. His appointment of Steve Bannon to positions high in his campaign and the White House should be a disqualifier of continuing support for Trump among portions of the Jewish community (“ADL Chief Takes Stand Against Bannon,” Nov. 25).
Shrugging off Bannon’s having given access to white supremacists and anti-Semites on his news site reveals a lack of vigilance the phrase “Never Again” was meant to encourage.
