Lifting Trump’s Ego

Regardless of one’s political view of President Trump, to pray that God “bless and protect, guard and help, exalt, magnify and uplift” him (“Pray for the President? A Divine Dilemma,” Jan. 13) is problematic under Jewish law.

Jewish law prohibits praying for what is impossible. And it is impossible for Mr. Trump to be more exalted, magnified or uplifted than he already is in his own eyes. This is, after all, a man of such ego that he claimed it wasn’t necessary for him to separate himself from the management of his businesses while he occupies the Oval Office because he can run our country and the Trump Organization at the same time.
