Haberman Comparison

Clyde Haberman complains about the criticism he received from some U.S. Jews over articles he wrote when he was the Jerusalem correspondent for the New York Times (“Three Pulitzer Prize Winners,” Editor’s column, June 8). But Haberman’s own words reveal his bias.

In an interview with Haaretz on Jan. 16, 2014, Haberman had this to say about Israelis: “All there is today is ‘we’re under siege, we’re under siege.’ Israel has built fences and barriers and walls around it. It has basically built its own ghetto, its own Warsaw Ghetto, to keep everybody out.”

If you’re going to publicly compare the State of Israel to the Nazis, don’t be surprised that some Jews might wonder whether you are truly capable of objective news reporting about the Jewish state.
