Kudos to Jonathan Mark for his “The Edge of Town” column (Sept. 13) highlighting “Brooklyn’s Year of Living Dangerously,” in which he questions how lightly anti-Orthodox crime is covered and how lukewarmly it is fought.
The Jewish Week, once concerned about anti-Orthodox Jewish crime, has steadily drifted leftward both politically and with regard to Israel. While Mark includes the Orthodox community in the failure of an adequate response to anti-Orthodox crime, he highlights the lack of any marches, speeches or demands by the liberal Jewish community in defense of Orthodox co-religionists.
