What you do:

I am a doctor and family man. I work as a pediatric hospitalist and am the medical director of Inpatient Pediatrics at Bellevue Hospital Center. I care for patients, teach medical students and residents and work to ensure that our patients are getting high-quality evidence-based care, regardless of income, race or ethnicity. Recently, with the Covid-19 pandemic hitting New York City especially hard, I have been spending a lot of time making sure that the pediatrics units were (and continue to be) ready for the unexpected. We are working to provide the best care for pediatric patients with Covid and working to make sure that our teams taking care of patients with Covid stay healthy and safe.

My incredible wife, Nicole Gerber (pediatric emergency medicine physician at NYP/Weill Cornell Medicine), is also instrumental at her site in helping to care for children with Covid. She recently led a successful Zoom session for parents to talk about their concerns surrounding their children and Covid and had more than 300 participants!

When I am not at work, I spend time with my beautiful wife and my two adorable children, Max, 4, and Eliana, 2. Recently, life has become even more of a balancing act with school/daycare closures, but my hero (my wife) makes it all work. Our family loves learning together about space, dinosaurs and Elmo.

On Shabbos, I can be found at Adereth El, participating in the Children’s Services davening with my family.

Unexpected fun fact:

My wife and I met during residency training at NYU — I asked her out while we were working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
