Jewish teens across New York City have stories to tell. This is one of the reasons why we started the New York Jewish Week Teen Journalism Fellowship — to gain access to communities whose diverse perspectives are crucial in covering the full breadth of stories impacting the 1 million Jews across NYC.

Meet Our Spring 2025 New York Jewish Week Fellows
Bethany Karlinsky (she/her) is a junior at The Bronx High School of Science in New York City. She currently serves as a copy chief of her school’s newspaper, The Science Survey. In her free time, she loves to hang out with friends, listen to music and read a good book.
Henry Zizmor (he/him) is a freshman at Little Red Elizabeth Irwin High School in SoHo, Manhattan. Henry is a co-founder and member of the executive leadership team of the Friendly Fridge Network, an organization that fights food insecurity. He is also a member of the LREI literary magazine and Jewish Affinity Clubs and participates in the Groundswell Community Mural program. He loves to draw, paint, play basketball and root for the Yankees.
Olivia Goldsmith (she/her) is a junior at Riverdale Country School in the Bronx, NY. She is particularly interested in the humanities, and enjoys analytical, creative and journalistic writing. Olivia is an active member of her school’s Mock Trial team, as well as the Criminal Justice Coalition. In her free time, you can catch her on the field. Olivia is a tri-varsity athlete, playing varsity lacrosse, basketball and field hockey.
Mimi Aminat Selam Newman (she/her) is a junior at Art and Design High School in New York City, where she is majoring in fine arts. She is the founder of her school’s Jewish Student Union and the co-founder of the film club. Additionally, she participates in the Black Student Union and the early morning painting club. Outside of school, she is an active member of New York City’s Friends of Israel Scouts: Tzofim, where she dedicates hundreds of hours to community service, aiming to strengthen the connection between American Jews and Israel.
Lily Rawls is a student at the German International School New York, where she co-founded and is captain of the varsity soccer team, bass guitarist in the OffBeats band, and a two-time finalist in an international debate competition. An interviewer and actor at the Holocaust-centered Witness Theater, Lily is a past alumni-leader for the Repair The World service corps and a spring intern at the League of Women Voters.
Naomi Granit (she/her) is a junior at Brooklyn Technical High School. She is and active member of her scouts in which she counsels 6th graders. She is an exec of the Israel and Operation Smile clubs. Her favorite sport has always been gymnastics and she is a part of the stunt team at her school. On her free time she enjoys going on runs and walks to the piers and loves hanging out with her friends.
