Bedouin suspects in a serial rape case in Israel’s North said they committed the crimes as revenge for actions by the Israel Defense Forces. “We are raping Jews because of what the IDF is doing to the Palestinians in the territories,” one of the six detainees told Israeli police, according to The Jerusalem Post. The suspects are from the Galilee village of Bir al-Maksur. Police said they are aware of four attacks, on victims ranging from 13 to 25 years old, but believe that more have gone unreported. The gang allegedly targeted young women waiting alone at bus stops or hitchhiking posts. Police said the gang members would force the victim into their car, drive to a remote location and assault her. The Nazareth Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday remanded in custody the four main suspects for 10 days, and another for five days. A woman who was suspected of helping them was released on restricted terms.
