The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America lauded the introduction of the 2007 Workplace Religious Freedom Act. The proposal would require workplaces to accommodate employees’ religious needs, even beyond the current discrimination laws. It was presented to the House of Representatives last Friday and sent to the Committee on Education and Labor.”Promoting religious liberty is the highest domestic policy priority for the Orthodox Union and its national constituency,” Nathan Diament, director of the O.U.’s Institute for Public Affairs, said in a statement.
