An Israeli commission of inquiry into the Lebanon war published testimony by top officials. Censored versions of the accounts given to the Winograd Commission by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Amir Peretz and former armed forces chief Dan Halutz were released Thursday following a court battle over their publication date.Olmert and Peretz – whose conduct of the July-August campaign was criticized by the Winograd panel – pointed to the army’s lack of preparation for the Hezbollah threat. Olmert said he thought the war would be far shorter than it turned out to be. Halutz said he thought the war would have gone better if more military resources had been employed.
