Accused to S.F. on Wiesel assault charges

A New Jersey man alleged to have assaulted Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel flew to San Francisco to face charges.

A New Jersey man alleged to have assaulted Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel flew to San Francisco to face charges. San Francisco police picked up Eric Hunt, 22, from a jail in Somerville N.J., and flew back with him Thursday night. Charges include attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, elder abuse, stalking, battery and the commission of a hate crime. Hunt allegedly posed as a journalist to accost Wiesel, 78, a writer and Nobel peace prize winner, at a peace forum at a San Francisco on Feb. 1. He allegedly boasted about the assault on a Holocaust denial blog. He was arrested on Feb. 17.
