A Jewish anti-war coalition released a petition with 1,000 signatures urging an end to the war in Iraq.Jews Against the War, a grassroots group opposed to the Iraq war and working to prevent conflict with Iran, plans to deliver the petition to Congress and run it as an ad in a major Jewish publication. Rabbis, educators and others have signed the petition, which calls Iraq an unjust war that was begun under false pretenses. The petition calls upon Congress to set “hard and fast limits” on the president’s ability to expand the war or launch one against Iran.Jews Against the War was started in March to reconcile what the organization sees as the disparity between polls showing strong Jewish opposition to the Iraq war and the “relative lack of an active and vocal Jewish effort” to oppose it, according to a press release.
