The Reform movement joined a coalition of Jewish environmental groups and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs in launching a campaign to encourage congregations to discuss global climate change with elected officials. The initiative launched Monday by the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, the JCPA and the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life is titled “Conservation Conversations: Invite Your Elected Official to Synagogue.” “We sincerely hope that this program helps synagogues create ongoing partnerships with public officials that will aid in our work to address the challenges of global climate change,” said a joint statement from Rabbi David Saperstein, the RAC director, and Barbara Lerman-Golomb, COEJL’s executive director. Online resources for congregations are available at www.rac.org/climatechange and www.coejl.org/climatechange/consconv.php.
