Most Israelis believe their government is not tough enough on Palestinian rocket fire, but fewer would support a ground sweep of Gaza, a poll found. According to the Knesset Channel survey aired Tuesday, 78 percent of Israelis think their government’s response to rocket salvoes from Gaza is “too soft,” while 6 percent say it is “too harsh” and 8 percent say it is appropriate. But asked whether Israel should send troops into Gaza rather than rely on air strikes against Hamas and other targets, 39 percent said yes, 48 percent said no, and 13 percent were undecided. The poll’s number of respondents and margin of error were not immediately given.
