A New York City community college broke ground on a $90 million Holocaust Center Sunday.Queensboro Community College’s Harriet and Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center and Archives project, which has been housed in a basement for 22 years, is set to move to a brand new building.The resource center organizes lectures and meetings of survivors and curates art exhibits in addition to housing a large archive of books, films and documents about the Holocaust.State Assemblywoman Nettie Mayersohn told a Queens newspaper, the Times Ledger, that time is running out to document the personal stories of the Holocaust. “My generation doesn’t have to turn to history books to learn about the Holocaust,” she said. “It’s in our hearts and psyches. But I am a little concerned about the next generation.”
