Israel and the United States held a joint air exercise.The joint drill, which began Sunday in Israel and was expected to last a week, drew attention in the Arab world given the expectation that Israel or the United States could bomb Iran to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons.Israel made efforts to tamp down such speculation, calling the exercise part of routine, annual military cooperation. Its military spokesmen said only that the drill involved “joint flights for the purpose of mutual learning.”
