The new president of the European Jewish Congress pledged to address Iran, anti-Semitism and assimilation after meeting the Israeli prime minister in Jerusalem.
Moshe Kantor met Monday with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. According to a statement from the EJC, Olmert commended Kantor for convening nuclear experts in May that drew focus to the Iranian threat.
Kantor invited Olmert to Germany in November 2008 to commemorate 70 years since Kristallnacht. Discussions also concerned the fate of three kidnapped Israeli soldiers and European Jewish assimilation.
