Two men were sentenced to long prison terms in the 2006 killing of a British Jewish activist.

Jeffrey Rice, 23, was given 52 years for killing Alan Senitt in the upscale Georgetown neighborhood of Washington. Kristopher Piper, 26, was sentenced to 37 years for being an accomplice. They must serve at least 85 percent of the sentences. Superior Court Judge Neal Kravitz in Washington imposed the sentences last Friday.

Senitt, 27, was stabbed and slashed to death in July 2006 during a robbery spree in the Georgetown and Adams Morgan neighborhoods. Senitt, a former chairman of the British Union of Jewish Students, was volunteering for Virginia Gov. Mark Warner in his presidential bid.

Another accomplice, a 15-year-old juvenile, pleaded guilty in November and a judge ordered that he be kept in the city’s custody until he is 21. A fourth defendant, who drove the getaway car, will be sentenced next month.
