A petition to Israel’s high court would require a Lebanon war commission to single out individuals in its final report.
The Movement for Quality Government in Israel has petitioned the High Court of Justice to instruct the Winograd Commission “to draw personal conclusions.” It also asks the court to issue an injunction on releasing the report until the group’s petition has been heard.
The Winograd Commission announced Thursday that it would submit a final, conclusive report on its investigation of the Second Lebanon War by the end of 2007.
Reports have been circulating for the last month that the commission, in what is expected to be a harsh report, would make only general recommendations and not single out individuals for personal recommendations.
