Syria reportedly is clearing the remains of the alleged nuclear facility that Israel attacked last month.

Dismantling the site will make it difficult for International Atomic Energy Agency officials to learn what the facility was used for, the Washington Post reported Friday.

Israel raided the site of what the country alleges was a nascent nuclear reactor in northeastern Syria on Sept. 6. Syria officially has one nuclear reactor used for scientific research, but denies it is working to create nuclear weapons.

The raid came after a delivery to the site by North Korea, whom Israel accuses of assisting Syria with its nuclear program.

Government and weapons experts have criticized Israel’s actions, the Post reported.
