The Palestinian Authority president has said he will resign if there are no results in Annapolis.
Mahmoud Abbas during a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice last week threatened to quit if next month’s U.S.-sponsored peace conference fails, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Israel will face a third intifada and the United States will have to deal with the terrorist al-Qaida if the conference fails, a senior Palestinian Authority official quoted Abbas as telling Rice in an interview with a Kuwaiti newspaper.
Abbas, according to the Kuwati article, also told Rice that his Fatah security forces in the West Bank have prevented Iranian, Hezbollah and al-Qaida terrorists from infiltrating Israel.
