Police are investigating a third hate incident at Columbia University in recent weeks.
A swastika was spray-painted on the door of a Jewish faculty member’s office at Teachers College on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the university, Reuters reported.
“We feel we’ve been targeted precisely because Teachers College is, and historically has been, a center for deep multicultural work,” Susan Furhman, the president of Teachers College, said in a statement.
In other recent hate incidents at Columbia, on Oct. 10 a black professor at Teachers College found a noose hung on the handle to her office door. The following day a drawing of a yarmulke-clad Jewish man with a swastika was found at the School of General Studies.
The incidents follow the well-publicized appearance at the university by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a noted Holocaust denier.
