Ehud Barak will be joining Ehud Olmert at the Annapolis peace conference with the Palestinians.
The Israeli prime minister has invited Barak, his defense minister and biggest political rival, to join him at the U.S.-hosted conference at month’s end, Israel’s Channel Two reported Friday.
Foreign Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, who has led the pre-conference negotiations with the Palestinian Authority, will also attend the event, which is expected to take place on Nov. 27.
Leading the Palestinian side is Mahmoud Abbas. Several Arab states – including, perhaps, Syria – are also expected to come to Annapolis, but it remains unclear how senior their representatives will be.
