A U.N. General Assembly committee adopted a draft resolution initiated by Israel.

The resolution calls on developed countries to make their knowledge and know-how in the field of agricultural technology more accessible to the developing world.

The economic and financial committee passed the resolution Tuesday with 118 countries in favor, 29 abstentions and no objections.

It represented a victory for Israel, which has been stymied by the politicization in the General Assembly and its committees.

“This first, historic Israeli-initiated resolution adopted by the U.N. is a signal of Israel’s exceptional contribution to the world,” said Israel’s U.N. ambassador, Dan Gillerman. “Israel will continue to share its creative and innovative ideas, and will demonstrate that it is an equal, respected member at the U.N., having much to offer to the organization’s agenda, and beyond the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”
