One in four young Israelis do not think they have a future in the country.

A poll commissioned by Israel 2020, a new social action forum, found that 25 percent of Israelis aged 18 to 35 believe they may have to seek their fortunes abroad.

The survey had 2,000 respondents. No margin of error was given.

According to the study, whose results were published this week, education tops the list of Israel’s national problems that young people want to see addressed. Next come security, health and welfare services, and unemployment.

Israel 2020 was founded with funding from Israeli industrialists such as Dov Lautman and Kobi Huberman. The forum aims to advise Israeli policymakers by acting as a “shadow” government.

“We are an apolitical civilian movement with the goal of being the choice of the young generation,” Israel 2020 director Uri Ginot told Yediot Achronot. “Our movement is predicated on the assumption that Israel had wonderful achievements in the past, and has tremendous potential for the future, but that at the moment, something is stuck. There is no agenda, there is no long-term strategy, and this is very bad for our future.”
