A new poll shows that Israelis and Palestinians can agree.
A majority on both sides believe that the peace conference last month in Annapolis, Md., was a failure.
Some 74 percent of Israelis believe the parley was a failure, as do 59 percent of Palestinians. The poll was jointly conducted by the Truman Center at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research.
Fifty-five percent of Israelis said that there will not be a stop to the violence; they are joined in their opinion by 32 percent of the Palestinians polled.
When asked if they support an agreement including a Palestinian state in Gaza and the West Bank with some territorial exchanges, Jerusalem split between the two sides, and no right of return for Palestinian refugees, 53 percent of Israelis said yes as did 47 percent of Palestinians, numbers that are lower than in previous years.
The poll questioned 564 Israelis and 1,270 Palestinians and had a margin of error of 4 percent.
