The Coalition Against Terrorist Media last week praised Thaicom for becoming the eighth carrier to drop Al Manar. CATM lobbies internationally for companies to drop Al Manar, noting the penalties that could incur from dealing with a U.S.-designated terrorist entity.

U.S. authorities have designated Al Manar as terrorist because of its links to Lebanese-based Hezbollah. According to the press release from CATM, a project of the Washington-based Foundation for Defense of Democracies, only Saudi-based Arabsat and Egypt-based Nilesat still carry Al-Manar.
