Israeli ground and air forces killed at least six Hamas gunmen in the Gaza Strip.
Troops backed by tanks and helicopter gunships raided Jabalya, east of Gaza City, early Thursday, drawing fire from local Hamas cadres. At least five gunmen died in the ensuing clashes.
Hours earlier, an airstrike hit a Hamas rocket crew attempting to carry out a launch into Israel. One crewman was killed and two others wounded.
There were no reports of Israeli casualties.
